Family photography

It is my honor to photograph your family! I favor connection, movement and fun for a stress free session! Portrait sessions are typically held at an outdoor location where I will take a mix of candid and posed photographs. Sunrise or sunset is the best time for these photos.

Before your session I will ask you to fill out a questionnaire to help me learn more about you and your family and how I can tailor your session to create personalized images you will love! After we choose a date and location, I will follow up with a phone consultation. I will go over session details and answer any questions you may have, and I’ll send you some information with advice on what to wear and how to prepare for your session!

How It Works

Booking

Reach out to get on my calendar! We’ll agree on a date and you can start thinking about what everyone is going to wear! Once I have your initial payment and portrait agreement you are booked!

Plan Your Session

Once you’re on my calendar and have sent in your client questionnaire I will schedule a pre-session consultation. I’ll also send you a session guide with tips on what to expect, what to wear, and secrets for a smooth session!

The Fun Part!

I’ll meet you at our location where I’ll help guide you into natural interactions and take a mix of candid and posed photographs. Don’t stress-this will be fun!

Prints & Products

Your family deserves to be celebrated! I want you to cherish the memories from your session for many years, and I offer high quality prints, albums and other products from my professional photo lab so you can enjoy them every day in your home.

Frequently Asked Questions

 
 

  • Yes! Family sessions include a set number of edited, high-resolution digital files of your choice for download. You will make your choices after you have a chance to look through your whole gallery. There is also the option to purchase additional individual files or the entire gallery of images. You will receive a print release with your session.

  • Family sessions are typically done at an outdoor location in the St. Louis area. I like to schedule outdoor sessions about 1.5-2 hours before sunset and full sessions last about an hour.

  • I advise against bright colors, all white, and anything too matchy-matchy. It’s best to coordinate 2-3 colors for everyone and use neutrals and accessories to tie it all together. I’ll send you a style guide with more info after booking!

  • Images from your session are typically available within 2-3 weeks of your session.

  • I’m glad you asked! I offer heirloom quality print products through my professional photo lab. I encourage everyone to order at least a few prints to see the difference between professional printers and consumer photo labs! Prints, canvases, wall displays and other products can be ordered directly from your online gallery. If you need a product or size that you don’t see, let me know! I handle everything and deliver your final products to you!

  • Mini sessions are offered seasonally on limited dates. Email subscribers get first chance to book when mini sessions open, as well as the first look at new ‘Now Booking’ dates. Sign up so you don’t miss out and grab a spot before they sell out!

  • Sessions may be rescheduled due to weather at the discretion of the photographer. The initial payment will be transferred to a future date.

  • When you’re ready, click here to fill our the contact form or email me at hello@sarahrowlandphotography.com. I’ll send a questionnaire, followed by a contract and an invoice for your session. A signed contract and an initial payment is required to hold your date. The initial payment is non-refundable and will be applied towards your session fee. When everything is returned to me, you are officially on my calendar!
